About FFSF

Ben lost his life in the line of duty August 23, 2004. My journey to pickup the pieces has been long and painful. In the days and weeks that followed Ben’s death, I was faced with the transition of living this life without my precious son. There were so many things that needed to be done. Overwhelmed with grief these daunting tasks for me were so difficult. There were many unexpected expenses as well. I shudder to think what would have happened had it not been for the support and resources I had during this most agonizing time in my life.
The goal of the Fallen Firefighter Survivors Foundation is to offer immediate assistance, when necessary, to the families of those lost in a LODD.
Benjamin dedicated his life to the protection and welfare of people he would never know. Strangers calling for help. When the alarm sounds, the firefighter will be there. I am amazed at the courage and strength these men and women possess. I see Ben in them as they keep his dream and his purpose alive. It is my wish to carry on his memory and honor him for the rest of my life. What better way than to assist the loved ones of those that like him have made the ultimate sacrifice. Please join me in giving hope and support to those left behind.
The Cross of Saint Florien is the emblem used by Firefighters around the world. Similar to the Maltese cross its eight-points stand for; Loyalty, Piety, Frankness, Bravery, Honor, Contempt of death, Helpfulness towards the poor and the sick and above all, Respect. The inner Circle is symbolic of a never ending love and a bond that cannot be broken, not even in death. The Tree of Life with it branches reaching to the skies and its roots deeply bound symbolize the link between the heavens and the earth. With strength and fortitude to withstand the storm, the tree offers protection to the passerby. These are the attributes of this foundation. We will be there to offer support to those in need. We can and will make a difference!
